Major Topics in Commercial Microbiology

This section is devoted to important developments in the commercial use of microalgae, bacteria and fungi.

The first two technologies to be looked at in detail are:

Microalgae and carbon dioxide

Using microalgae to take carbon dioxide (CO2) as flue gas from power stations and anaerobic digestion facilities to help carbon mitigation and to produce valuable products

Scenedesmus microalga

Bacteria and methane

Using bacteria to convert methane (CH4) into biodegradable plastics such as polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA)

Polyhdroxybutyrate (PHB) globules in bacteria

We will also cover new developments in other aspects of commercial microalgae, bacteria, and fungi along with anaerobic digestion and commercial-scale composting.
