Microalgae to treat CO2 from cement factory

The company has set up a pilot plant at Ho-Ping Power using the calcium looping process for carbon capture. However, the company has realised that the carbon dioxide can also be used to grow microalgae.

Taiwan Cement is seeking partners to use its carbon dioxide to grow the type of microalgae than can be extracted to produce astaxanthin, a component of high-value skin care products.
